After some disappointing beer and Boubon experiences lately imagine my joy when I found a four-pack of North Coast Puck The Beer for $3.99. The label said Petite Saison so I was expecting a nice Grisette, especially after reading the yeast is from Le Merle and the alcohol just above 4% ABV. Unfortunately this beer is just boring. I yawn every time I think about it. They had the opportunity to create something unique with a nice ester profile coupled to spicy phenolics and instead created Saison water. There is nothing bad at all about this beer, but there is nothing to be excited about either. I know at a buck a bottle I won’t be purchasing another four-pack. So if you see it, unless you just want a weak beer with a slight bit of phenols I’d skip it and find something more interesting and flavorful.
