Ever get the feeling you are already out of luck before the game even starts? I had picked up that Buffalo Trace was going to release Colonel E.H. Taylor Seasoned Wood some time back, but did not know when exactly. I probably should get a Twitter account so I can stay up to date on things like this, but I don’t have one. I happened to notice it on the warehouse report for NC, but none was in stock. A quick check of the web didn’t bring up any for sale anywhere and only a single bottle for sale on the secondary market. The Virginia ABC did have a note that they received 150 bottles and were allocating that to those who had expressed interest and the list was over 1,000 folks. I have to figure out what happens to bottles like this in NC. With Cured Oak I missed it by a week or two at one store and was able to get a glass at a bar, but getting a bottle to take home proved to be impossible. It would seem to me if a restaurant can get a bottle, the average shopper should have a means to acquire one as well. I’m gonna do some digging to see if I can figure out what it will take, or if some things are truly made of unobtanium!
